预备干员们发现,最近的训练课上多了一个女性库兰塔的身影,杜宾教官有时会让这位名叫芬的干员作为助理教官来指导预备干员们的各项训练。一开始,大家都有点畏惧这名新教官。理由很简单,她和杜宾教官一样不苟言笑,不少预备干员第一次见到她时都在心底里把她当成又一位杜宾教官。但事实上,这位看似难以接近的助理教官,是一位热心肠,并且善于直接表达自己对后辈关心的资深干员。
有一次,参加作战演习的行动预备组成员们以惨败结束了训练。那天晚上,干员们紧张不安地等待着芬的训话——当时大家对芬并不熟悉,因为她只有在任务间隙返回本舰的时候,才会来训练场帮助杜宾教官授课。但实际发生的事情和干员们的预想大相径庭。看着自己指导的干员们低着头,愧疚于模拟作战中的失误而一言不发,芬先是安慰大家不必纠结,然后开始分析每一个人的亮眼表现和不足之处,最后还总结了一下在日常训练中可以改进的地方。在那之后,芬经常抽出时间和干员们在训练场之外的地方交流,也时常在他们遇到生活方面的问题时提出自己的建议。
从一名稚气未脱的学员成长为可以独当一面的正式干员,需要的不只有严格的训练,还有坚定的内心。这些都是罗德岛的干员们身体力行,通过自己的行动让她明白的道理,芬这样告诉大家。以前有位Ace干员,他给过芬很多支持,还有不少像杜宾教官这样一直帮助她的干员,他们都影响了芬的成长。现在,她也在用自己的方式践行自己作为罗德岛干员的使命。

芬在罗德岛本舰停留的时间随着任务的增加而越发短暂,但她对这里的归属感却越发强烈。每次回到本舰,芬都想找行动预备组A1的老朋友们叙叙旧,但大家也都有自己的任务,少有团聚的时刻。芬每次出外勤任务回来都会给老朋友们带些礼物,她把礼物寄存在后勤部,这样大家一回来便能马上收到。后来,芬也收到不少回礼。米格鲁送来一块肩甲,这是她和工程部干员们研究防具时做出的原型,芬把它戴在肩上。炎熔送来一件由三个圆环拼成的奇特施术单元,这是她研究源石技艺时突发奇想做出来的,芬把它挂在腰间。芙蓉送来一条紫色缎带,据她说可以当作急救时使用的绷带,芬把它绑在胸口。克洛丝送来两枚造型别致的徽章,据说是她研究出来的陷阱“小戏法”,芬把它们别在长枪的绳索上。就这样,大家的关爱以一种特别的方式展现了出来,芬决定戴着它们,不论去哪里都戴着它们。

她呼喊着,指挥队员们作战,但外面满是嘈杂。队员们被冲散了。
她看见自己在战斗。她一路厮杀,冲上了高地,发射了罗德岛的信号弹。
队员们施展源石技艺,一边与佣兵战斗一边协助居民撤退。
火焰、爆炸、箭矢、刀剑、鲜血、崩塌的房屋、破碎的玻璃、哭泣的孩童。
她在奔跑,奔跑,跑个不停。从街道的这头到那头。
她看见佣兵们倒下,而自己依然在战斗。她对干员们大喊,叫他们撤退,叫他们求援。
佣兵们朝她冲来,而她没有后退。
然后,然后是......
她从恶梦中惊醒,腹部伤口的痛楚仍在撕扯身体,然后她又昏睡过去。
她在迷蒙中看见芙蓉满脸担忧的样子,还听见些许模糊的声音。然后,芙蓉的脸慢慢变得清晰,开始微笑。
